India Q2 smartphone market sales plummeted. Chinese brands still “dominant”

Recently, well-known data research organization Canalys said that the poor performance of the Indian smartphone market in the second quarter of this year is the worst performance in recent years.

Data show that from April to June this year, the overall Indian market fell 48% year-on-year. In the second quarter, India’s smartphone market shipments were 17.3 million, a decrease of 48% compared to the same period last year.

Judging from the list, Chinese mobile phone brands still occupy “half of the list”. Among them, Xiaomi ranked first with a shipment of 5.3 million units, with a market share of 31.1%; vivo ranked second with a shipment of 3.7 million units and a market share of 21.3%; Samsung ranked with a shipment of 2.9 million units Third, the market share fell by 60% year-on-year by 16.8%.

In addition, OPPO shipped 2.2 million units, with a market share of 12.9%. Its sub-brand realme ranks fifth with 1.7 million shipments and a 10% market share.

According to Canalys analysis, the main reason for the downturn in the smartphone industry is the impact of the new crown epidemic. Nevertheless, the performance of Chinese mobile phone brands is still very good.
